A Christmas Indulgence

Monday, December 21st, 2015

2015 has been a bit like the odd numbered original Star Trek films, though I maintain I do love Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. But as with the others in that series, 2015 has not been one the finest in my semi-short existence. I could even call it a brief existence when compared to that of my husband’s Grandmonster. I digress. It hasn’t been all doom and gloom. Really, it hasn’t. There’s no way, though, I would have gotten through it without the kindness and support of many, many people. Please indulge me this final Monday before Christmas while I tell you about some of them.

The Star Wars Blog

Thursday, December 17th, 2015

Yes, I’m going there. I fully admit I’m one of those people other people made fun of for loving and embracing a world far, far away. I had a battery operated blow-up light saber as a child and have a battery operated thing that looks like a light saber now as an adult…it just doesn’t light up or blow up. It does buzz, though. My Christmas wishes as a young boy included going through the Sears catalog and identifying all the upcoming Star Wars toys I didn’t already have in my collection, then adding them to my holiday list. I’m sure most adults cringed when they saw that list, but I didn’t care. I still don’t. Star Wars has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Somebody’s Been Spiking The Eggnog Again

Monday, December 14th, 2015

Have you ever noticed how the holidays can sometimes bring out…oh, let’s call it what it is, shall we?…the more interesting population around us? They’re everywhere, but especially visible when it nears time for festivities. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s the ever-so-subtle invitation from the nutty ass drivers searching for that elusive parking space, who then race around/ahead/in reverse and steal the spot you have your blinker on to occupy once the current vehicle has vacated. People like that invite a certainly level of crazy, which me and Little Brother witnessed in abundance this past Saturday.

How We Roll

Thursday, December 10th, 2015

I’m not sure why, but this time of year usually finds more people than usual inquiring about our living arrangements here. They like to call it curiosity. The Chinese have a better word for it; nosey. The hubs, sadly, works out of state and is only able to make it home every two months, sometimes more frequently and sometimes less. We get to spend our holidays together, vacations, and, sometimes, emergencies if one crops up. Many have said they wouldn’t be able to handle that kind of arrangement, and they question how we can. I think the answer is quite simple; practice. We’ve been doing it this way for eighteen years.

Walking Where I Said I’d Not Go Again

Monday, December 7th, 2015

I’d come to terms a year ago when I visited the campus where I attended University and realized it belonged to a different generation now. Well, a couple of generations, one which probably feels the same way I do; it’s not the same anymore. It is, in fact, so far removed from the place I attended that there wasn’t anything even remotely familiar about it. I stated then that I doubted I’d return because it didn’t belong to me or the folks I attended with during that time anymore. Yeah…I went back last week and my opinion has changed. Big surprise.
