Happy Halloween! (aka Horror Films Made Me Gay)

Monday, October 31st, 2011

Yes, you read the title correctly.  Horror films made me gay.  Don’t believe me?  Then I’ve got three words for you; Elm Street 2!  Aside from that, the truth is that I grew up watching horror movies, mostly because my father had a sweet tooth for them and mom didn’t.  So, if he was going to watch any, he did that with me.  And Halloween is one of the few times that even my guy doesn’t give me a hard time about popping in a few scary flicks.  Another truth, but a sad truth, is that I’ve seen wayyyyyy too many of these films, which is why I’m going to entertain you with some of my catty thoughts on them.  Ready to have a little fun?

Classic Blog Post: Phone Calls, Reunions and Porn…All In A Day

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

Original Publication Date: 3/09/08

Did you ever get a phone call out of the blue from that person you never thought you’d hear from?  Okay, let’s be honest, that you never wanted to hear from?  Yeah, that one.  I’ve had my share of people I just never wanted to hear from again or see…unless in obituary form.  And no, I’m not being catty when I say that.  They’re just that much easier to get along with when they can’t act like idiots or say something back, which is when they tend to demonstrate their idiocy.  So, deceased = win/win.  Bonus!

A Non-Porn Blog Post That Mentions the Word “Porn”!

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

Talk about life and you get a small, but polite, bit of response from folks.  Mention porn like I did in my Monday blog post and your Google Analytics explodes in a traffic orgasm!  Maybe it’s just a magic word.  Let me try it again…porn.  I’ll check analytics tomorrow.  In the meantime, my guy and I sold off our extra car this past weekend.  This is significant because neither one of us are good about doing things like that.  We’re not hoarders, but we have a hell of a time letting some things go.  Cars are one of them and that’s been an issue of mine since I was a young lad.

Ah, To Be Mounted By Jordan Young, Brandon Lee & Brent Everett

Monday, October 24th, 2011

It may shock some of you to learn this, so prepare yourself. I may, just may, have seen an adult movie…or two…or 200…in my life. I know, bizarre, right? You have no idea how difficult it is at times to convince folks I’m as pure and angelic as I need them to think I am. It’s not easy. I remember the first time I watched one back in college when all my roommates were at class–mostly because they wouldn’t have appreciated watching it with me. I was nervous, shocked, giggly, turned on, turned off, turned on again and couldn’t believe my eyes. It was called A Scent of Man, only I don’t recall anybody taking the time to really inhale and enjoy the scent of cologne anyone was wearing.

Classic Blog Post: Lunch With David Caruso and Introducing The New Site

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Original Publication Date: 3/03/08

In 1978, you believed a man could fly… (Superman: The Movie)
After puberty, you saw a man’s fly and believed…

You know.  Or not.

Maybe you saw your own fly.  Either way, I’m sure you had a reaction.

So I was having a post-lunch pre-dinner kinda snack a month ago with David Caruso when he all of a sudden suggests ever so seriously:

This was first published on Modamag.Com in 2002.  My kind thanx to the owner of the site for letting me putting it on my own site now.

In celebration of the upcoming Halloween holiday, I thought I’d dig up this interview about a director who’s responsible for some wonderfully scary ass movies!  Welcome back to 2002:

A 1995 Sweetest Day Booty Call in Mackinac

Monday, October 17th, 2011

My hubby-to-be-in-the-legal-sense isn’t a fan of holidays, specifically Hallmark holidays.  Valentine’s Day?  Sweetest Day?  He tolerated them sixteen years ago because of me and because my family has always enjoyed these little occasions.  They can be fun and I fought my guy for years trying to show him that we can have a good time on them in a celebratory sense.  He insists I lose this one.  BUT, having said that, a conversation with him this past weekend brought up a few memories of our first Sweetest Day together…back when he felt it was still necessary to woo me into a false sense of security before dominating me.  They do that, you know.

Classic Blog Post: Since You And I Haven’t Had Sex (Dealing With Negative Energy)

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

Original Publication Date: 2/24/08

I was going through my CDs the other day looking to make a compilation of some 80s songs that brought back very specific memories.  While making my way through the “B”s (Baltimora…Berlin…Big Pig…Blondie…), Bon Jovi caught my eye.  It was an album I hadn’t listened to in a long while, so I popped it in and the first few chords of Keep The Faith rang out.  Keep the faith…it somehow seems so appropriate right now.  Let me explain.

Boys Just Want To Have Fun (The Pookie-Bop)

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

This past weekend with my father was a good one.  Well, 50% good and that’s actually better-than-average, so I’m not complaining.  We even had a little breakthrough that’s giving me some false hope, but more on that in a bit.  I’m also getting a little more geeked about Pookie’s and my upcoming wedding next February.  My mother has been sharing her thoughts on the matter and I find that I’m in untried waters trying to figure out if there’s more I should be doing and planning.  Does anybody think it’s possible to get Dawn French to marry us dressed as the Vicar of Dibley?
