Did I Just…Oh, Yes…Yes! Yes! Yes! I Had A Scoregasm!

Monday, February 28th, 2011

I needed to lighten up a little in this week’s Monday post, so I thought I’d chat about something kinda fun.  Ready?  Here we go.  I’ve been teased for years about my love for soundtracks.  Well, okay, I’ll be honest.  I’ve been teased about my love of b-movie soundtracks.  Sure, I love some of the big budget ones–something by Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, John Williams, Hans Zimmer and Vangelis–but what about the others?  What about the rarities?  I always said I’d die a happy man if four specific scores were released on CD.  And you know what?  The fourth one has just been release!  This doesn’t bode well for my mortality.

Classic Blog Post: Lance Bass Comes Out, But Is He The Chicken Or The Egg?

Classic Blog Post: Lance Bass Comes Out, But Is He The Chicken Or The Egg?
Original Publication Date: 7/29/06

When fans heard Lance Bass announce to the media and essentially the world that he was gay, what do you think was the first thing that went through people’s minds?  If you happen to be me–and you aren’t–I immediately imagined Lance and Darren Hayes meeting up at the same resort on their honeymoons.  If you happen to be straight–and you might be–you probably imagined Lance either administering his own personal lance or being lanced by another non-descript male unless you happen to know what his partner, Riechen Lehmkuhi, looks like.  In either case if you’re straight, you went right to the sex thing, didn’t you?  This brings up an interesting question: is Lance the chicken or the egg?

The Post-Breakfast, Pre-Lunch Club

I’m going to do it.  I’m actually going to do it!  I’m combining three different blog ideas into one because, if I don’t, they’ll never get written.  Come on, level with me.  Who else do you know who’s managed to combine John Hughes movies, the strength of some of your friends and the whole writer thing all into a single blog?

I once again had something else in mind for this Monday blog, which would have been the remaining idea I had from last week that never wound up fleshed out, only this other bit seems to have taken precedence.  Life can be like that, huh?  Two quick things first; I’ll be attending and signing books as the Rainbow Book Fair in NYC on March 26th and doing a book signing in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Saturday, April 9th with my mentor and friend from GVSU, Dr. Milt Ford.  Details on both events to follow in the coming weeks.  And now for the rest…

Original Publication Date: 7/19/06

I once saw Darren Hayes in concert back when he was with Savage Garden.  Decent show, wonderful opening act (Billie Meyers) and a distinct impression he might be gay.  My boyfriend, who, mind you, doesn’t have the best Gaydar in the world, even asked if Darren was gay.  Did it really matter?  No, but it was a brief topic of conversation.

There Will Come A Day He Won’t Ask

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

There were about three different blog ideas I had going around in my head that I thought were all connected.  They aren’t.  Not entirely.  Two might be, though.  One is about my father.  The other is about my Pookie.  Next Tuesday will mark our 16th anniversary together as a couple, which I find extraordinary simply because someone has managed to put up with me this long.  Ask my friends and co-workers both past and present.  Liking me isn’t always an easy thing.  And to love me?  It takes someone with a protective, delicious, hard candy outer shell; or someone Chinese in this particular case.

Snoring Your Way Through Romance!

Didn’t we just do this whole Monday thing last week?  Seriously…  Maybe we ought to just start having 3-day weekends instead.  I’m betting that idea would win if we took a vote.  All in favor?  Motion carried.  Now, on to my guy and the reason I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep this weekend.

Two weeks…  That’s right.  I had two weeks off from the ol’ hellhole known as “work” or “that place I go to pay the bills.”  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I love my co-workers.  They’re a unique bunch, each with quirks that make being around them worthwhile, but sometimes it’s nice to get away from the place that shackles us.

The First Boy I Ever Had A Crush On

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

I made two semi-kinda promises last week.  The first was to make an announcement on Monday, which I did because I accomplished all that I promised myself beforehand so that I actually could make the announcement, and the second was kinda digging deep into my past about the first boy I ever had a crush on.

Blame It On The Lights Down Low…

Monday, February 7th, 2011

Monday is a day to fear.  Why?  It’s daunting.  The weekend is far away.  The boss has no issue with delegating crap to you because you’ve got 40+ hours to “make it happen.” Your boss, not mine.  I like my boss.  He brings me my favorite kind of donut when he stops by Tim Hortons in the morning.  Stuff like that’s important to me.

So, I’ve been thinking out loud this past week about an announcement I was or wasn’t going to make.  It totally depended on how things went during the last week and I’m really taking a leap of faith here that I can keep things moving along this current week and each week in the future.

So, here it goes:
